    THE HOTEL MEURICE

Hotel Meurice exterior view

For the better part of two centuries, kings and cabinet ministers, sultans and arch dukes, maharajahs and princesses have regarded the Hôtel Meurice, a Dorchester Group Hotel, as the only place to stay in Paris. Only steps away from the Grand Louvre and the Faubourg Saint-Honoré, center of the arts, the Meurice has been the most fashionable hotel in Paris throughout its history.

The hotel is sited on one of the most historic spots in Europe: many of the principal events of the French Revolution, the Napoleonic Period, and the Restoration of the Bourbon Kings took place in or near the Tuileries Gardens, which The Meurice overlooks. Finished under the reign of King Louis Philippe, the seven-story Meurice houses a rare ensemble of salons decorated in 18th-century style. The hotel was a great literary salon in the 1970s, and today retains its position at the center of Parisian intellectual life; it has been a favorite destination for dozens of prominent artists and intellectuals.

One of Europe's most famous hotels, this five-star luxury property has a regal façade, filled with exquisite antiques and art from Sotheby's and Christie's, offering the location, service, and facilities that meet the demands of today's travelers of influence, official visitors to France and global business executives.

Location

Between the Place de la Concorde and the Grand Louvre, facing the Tuileries Gardens, the Hôtel Meurice is a few steps from the Opéra Garnier, the shops of the Rue de la Paix and Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Forty minutes from Charles de Gaulle Airport; thirty minutes from Orly Airport; public parking at Place Vendôme. Ten minutes from the Gare du Nord (the Eurostar Station).

Guest Rooms and Décor

The Hotel offers 160 soundproofed and air-conditioned rooms, equipped with minibar, TV, two phone lines, Internet access, a phone in all bathrooms, and a safety deposit box. Stereo equipment and fax machines are available upon request. Extraordinarily spacious, each room is filled with fine period-style furnishings and paintings, evoking an aura of privilege and giving each room its own character.

There are 25 full suites and 11 junior suites, including two Presidential Suites on the first floor, suitable for diplomatic parties, and the Belle Etoile Suite and Terrace on the 7th floor with its 360° view of Paris. The Meurice continually replenishes and upgrades its collection of antique furnishings and original art.

Dining

Hotel Meurice dining room

For lunch, dinner, high tea or cocktails with piano music in the background, there is the Jardin d'Hiver, a winter garden in the heart of the hotel.

At Le Meurice Restaurant, dining is gracious and elegant. The dining room is filled with antique beveled mirrors that reflect large bay windows framed in rare marbles. Crystal chandeliers, elaborately gilded plasterwork on ceilings and cornices, and 18th-century style furnishings give the salon a palatial ambience. A showpiece in itself, Le Meurice Restaurant is also a showcase of French gastronomy: the restaurant first earned its Michelin star in 1992, based on its creative, light, and exquisitely flavored dishes. Breakfast features freshly-baked Viennese bread and other pastries, with coffee and tea served in the finest porcelain cups.

Chef Marc Marchand, who has achieved the culinary rank of Grand Cuisinier de France, oversees the menus and changes them each season to take advantage of the fresh harvest of fruits, vegetables and fragrances. Wines are researched and selected by head wine waiter Antoine Zocchetto.

At cocktail time, guests can sip champagne or whisky in the comfortable, English-style setting of the Fontainebleau Bar, created during the recent renovation program. Deep, leather-covered chesterfield-style armchairs have been placed under a decorated ceiling as mysterious as the evening sky.

Check prices & availability for your travel dates

Use the Search Form below to locate properties in the city of your choice, specifying the name of the hotel (if you know it). Leaving the hotel name blank will return results for all properties in that city — depending on the location, this list may be rather long. On the other hand, if you specify the hotel and leave the city blank, you will be presented with all locations of that hotel name (or chain) throughout France — or any other country which you may have selected. This latter method is useful, for example, if you wished to find all Mercure Hotels (or any other brand) in the world.

For your convenience, all search results will list first those establishments for which we have negotiated special Internet rates. All listings will also show the range of their rates for different rooms and suites, with links to view pictures and particulars for each hotel. Once you have selected a facility which meets your preferred location, amenities, budget, and travel dates — you can instantly reserve your hotel stay using our totally secure booking service.
