Amazon.com Safe Shopping Guarantee
The Amazon.com Safe Shopping Guarantee protects you while you shop at Amazon.com, so that you never have to worry about credit card safety. Period.
We guarantee that every transaction you make at Amazon.com will be 100% safe. This means you pay nothing if unauthorized charges are made to your card as a result of shopping at Amazon.com.
Plus, you'll be one of over 12 million customers who have safely shopped with us without credit card fraud. If you feel more comfortable, you can enter only your card's last 5 digits and its expiration date. Once you have fully submitted your order, you can call in the rest of your card number.
We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Diners Club, and JCB.
You can safely enter your entire credit card number via our secure server, which encrypts all submitted information. If you prefer, we also have a way for you to use your credit card without ever having to enter the complete number on the Internet.
When filling out the order form, simply enter the last five digits and the expiration date of your credit card on the order form. This gives us a way to track your order but guarantees your security. Once you have fully submitted your order, you will be provided with phone and fax numbers so that you may provide us with the rest of your credit card number. You can do this even if you can't use our secure server, and your credit card number will be totally protected.
To provide you with an additional layer of security, all credit card numbers are stored on a computer that is not connected to the Internet. After you type, fax, or call it in, your complete credit card number is transferred to this secure machine across a proprietary one-way interface. This computer is not accessible by network or modem, and the number is not stored anywhere else.
Paying By Check Or Postal Money Order
We do accept checks or money orders denominated in U.S. dollars as payment for all orders (excepting those containing out-of-print titles). To pay by check, simply select "pay by check" on step two of the order form. Once you have fully submitted your order, you will be provided with an address to which to send payment.
Currently we are only able to accept postal money orders denominated in U.S. dollars or checks denominated in U.S. dollars and drawn on a U.S. bank. Checks must also have a valid nine-digit bank routing number (ABA code) MICR-encoded on the bottom of the check.
Paying by check does slow down your order somewhat, as we don't order your items until your check is received, and we don't ship the items to you until your funds clear. If you are in the United States, paying by personal check typically delays your order two to three weeks.
PLEASE NOTE: Available funds from checks are not designated to specific orders. As per Amazon.com policy, we will ship the first available order for which there are sufficient funds.
We do not currently accept purchase orders since all orders must be pre-paid. We do have many corporate and organizational customers who take advantage of one of the following alternatives:
Pro Forma Invoice
After you make an order marked to be paid by check, send a brief e-mail message to orders@amazon.com, asking for a pro forma invoice. We can either mail or fax it to you, and your accounting department can send a check for the order.Deposit on Account
You may pre-pay orders by depositing a sum of money in an Amazon.com account. Create an account by making your first order. Then, simply send a check for a larger lump sum, noting your email address, and we will place the funds in your account. As long as you access the same account, we will automatically draw on the available funds for future orders marked to be paid by check. To redeem a gift certificate, select the payment option marked "Gift certificate (or gift certificate and credit card)" on step 2 of the order form. We will ask you to enter your gift certificate claim code in step 6.
- If your gift certificate covers the cost of your order, we will place the balance in your gift certificate account. You will never have to re-enter your claim code to apply your balance toward future orders.
- If your order exceeds the value of your gift certificate, you will be given the opportunity to provide a credit card number to pay for the balance, to redeem another gift certificate, or to change your order.
- To redeem more than one gift certificate, just click the link marked "Click here to add another gift certificate to your account" on the "Completing Your Order" page.
Lost your gift certificate claim code? No problem. You can always send us e-mail at orders@amazon.com, and we'll help you get a new code.
The fine print:
- Gift certificates must be redeemed through our Web site, http://www.amazon.com. They cannot be redeemed through Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, Amazon.com Auctions, Amazon.com zShops, or third-party merchants accessible from our site.
- Gift certificates are not redeemable for cash.
- Any unused balance will be placed in the recipient's gift certificate account.
- Gift certificates cannot be used to pay for out-of-print titles.
- If your order exceeds the amount of your gift certificate, you must pay for the balance with a credit card.
- Please use our Shopping Cart rather than our 1-Click ordering if you wish to pay for your order with a gift certificate.
- Gift certificates and unused portions of gift certificates expire one year from the date of issue or on the earliest date permitted under applicable law, whichever occurs later.
- If you have any questions, send us e-mail at orders@amazon.com or call our customer service department at (800) 201-7575.
